The Effectiveness of Group Spiritual Therapy on Marital Adjustment and Marital Commitment in Sailors of Bushehr City

Background and Aim: One of the most effective ways to improve the quality of life of seafarers is to examine their marital relationships. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of spiritual therapy on marital adjustment and marital commitment among sailors in Bushehr city.
Methods: The present study was a semi-experimental type and its statistical population consisted of sailor men of Bushehr city. In this study, 1 experimental group and 1 control group were used, and the people in the experimental group received spiritual therapy for 14 weeks. Also, the research questionnaires, which included the revised scale of two-person compatibility and the marital commitment questionnaire, were completed by the members of both groups in the pre-test and post-test stages. In the present study, the data was analyzed using the statistical method of multivariate covariance analysis (MANCOVA).
Results: There is no significant difference in the variables of marital compatibility and marital commitment in the pre-test in the control and experimental groups. However, they are different in the post-test; In other words, the independent variable of the group has been effective and spiritual therapy has been able to be effective in the results of the experimental group. In other words, group spirituality therapy has an effect on marital adjustment and marital commitment in sailors (P<0.001).  
Conclusion:  According to the results of the present research, by using spiritual therapy, it is possible to create a significant and significant improvement in the marital compatibility and marital commitment of sailor men; Therefore, it is recommended to use spiritual therapy to improve marital compatibility and marital commitment of sailors.
