Abstract: (26 Views)
Background and Aim: With the expansion of maritime and military activities, the use of innovative technologies in health and medicine has gained increasing importance. Artificial intelligence (AI), as a transformative technology, has found broad applications in medical, military, and maritime domains. This study aims to provide a systematic review of the applications of AI in military and maritime medicine and to examine associated challenges. Methods: This research was conducted as a narrative review. Relevant data were collected through searches in databases including PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Google Scholar, and Web of Science, using keywords such as artificial intelligence, generative AI, telemedicine, military medicine, maritime medicine, soldier health, marine pollution, and marine toxins over the past decade. Results: AI applications in military settings include support for clinical decision-making, triage algorithms and medical care in combat operations, management of patient and equipment transport, health monitoring and biosurveillance, and development of advanced medical products. In the field of marine sciences, AI is employed in the analysis of marine organisms, classification and collection of data related to marine pollution, and waste management. Conclusion: Telemedicine systems, specialized consultations, provision of medical services to seafarers, intelligent management of marine waste, and development of submarine medical technologies represent key opportunities for leveraging AI in maritime medicine. Additionally, AI can contribute to controlling marine pollution, analyzing health data, and delivering remote medical services effectively. Given the growing adoption of this technology, training physicians, military personnel, and maritime staff in the effective use of AI is essential.
